Can You Get Package Holidays to Sacred Sites?

Designed primarily for families looking for vacations that will not break their budget, package holidays typically are all-inclusive programs that offer round trip airfare, accommodations, meals, activities and even beverages for one price. The only extra costs are incurred when you go out and do some shopping. 

Depending on the location chosen the activities available may include golfing, swimming, tennis, scuba diving, boating, canoeing, snorkeling, bicycling, horseback riding, skiing, snowboarding, or other recreational options.

When you are looking for a more spiritual experience the options become much smaller. We know of only a few companies that offer package vacations to sacred places. Typically these would be group tours to areas where there is a concentration of spiritually oriented sites in a relatively small area. These would include Sedona Arizona, Egypt, Peru and the Southwest of England.

In terms of activities, many itineraries feature meditation sessions, yoga classes, and ceremonies helping group members get in tune with the genus loci or spirits of place in the regions visited. These may include stone circles, sacred groves, holy wells, ancient shrines and similar places of power.

Even though the accommodations, transfers, entrance fees, local guides and some meals are typically part of the package, it is rare for them to include airfare to the country. For example, a tour of Peru would include flights within the country from Lima to Cusco or Juliaca as part of the package, but the traveler would have to purchase separate air fare from their home country to Lima.

Even though there are far fewer companies that are offering package programs to sacred sites than there are selling holiday packages to Disneyland and similar theme parks, nevertheless if a spiritually minded person does his or her homework, there are travel products to be found.
